Kotahi Tourism - Directors Melinda Loe and Hohepa Ruhe
Kotahi Tourism offers Māori and Aboriginal tours and education programs in NSW. Kotahi Tourism Directors Melinda Loe and Hohepa Ruhe work with NSW Indigenous Tourism Operators in mentoring and consulting capacities to collaboratively develop and promote Indigenous tours and education programs. These include Unkya LALC Cultural Tours (Gumbaynnggirr), Gulaga Creation Tour run by Ngaran Ngaran Culture Awareness (Yuin) and The Rocks Dreaming Aboriginal Heritage Tour run by Dreamtime Southern X in Sydney.
Kotahi Tourism’s relationships with Indigenous Australians are underpinned by traditional Māori protocols of Respect for Tangata Whenua (People of the Land), and mutual understanding of the importance of Culture and Heritage for Indigenous people.
Prior to founding Kotahi Tourism 2013, Melinda Loe was the Museum and Education Manager for the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority where she managed Sydney Learning Adventures and The Rocks Disovery Museum. Melinda was the Project Team Leader and Exhibition Development Manager for the development of the award-winning Rocks Discovery Museum in 2005. In her roles at SHFA, Melinda established partnerships with Indigenous organistaions Tribal Warrior Association and Dreamtine Southern X , working collaboratively to develop and implement education programs 'The Rocks Dreaming Aboriginal Heritage Tour' and Bangaboui: Aborginal Cultural Harbour Crusie. Melinda has previously worked as a Education Program Developer at Te Papa Tongarewa - The Museum of New Zealand and is a certified, experienced Primary Teacher.
Co-founder of Kotahi Tourism Hohepa Ruhe holds a Cert IV in Indigenous Mentoring. Hohepa's previous roles at Te Papa Tongarewa - The Museum of New Zealand and the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority include tour guiding, tour development and guide training.
